Meet Amanda
Board Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Psychiatric Nursing
I believe that psychiatric nurse practitioners have the unique opportunity to provide care that is built upon forming a relationship with the patient. Psychiatric illnesses are complex and require careful assessment that takes into consideration the biological, psychological, social, and developmental aspects of the patient's life. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner my goal is to meet the patient where they are and work in collaboration to tailor treatment from a "whole person" perspective. I believe that the psychiatric nurse practitioner's role in treatment is to nurture and build upon the patient's intrinsic strengths and resiliency throughout the treatment process.
Ethical Values
Patient autonomy is a value that I strive to uphold in my practice. I ensure that patients are involved in the decision-making process and that their goals, preferences, and concerns are addressed at each visit.
Making sure that every patient receives safe and effective treatment is also paramount to my practice as a nurse practitioner. Along with patient preference I consider the most recent, evidence-based interventions when creating a treatment plan.
Theoretical Foundation
I take a person-centered approach to treatment that is driven by building a strong therapeutic alliance. I often incorporate aspects of cognitive, behavioral, and interpersonal theory into my practice.
Evidence-Based Approach
Staying current on the latest research and available treatment options is important to me as a provider. I make it a priority to re-evaluate my approach to treatment by reviewing the latest literature and treatment guidelines at least quarterly. For quality control, and to track client progress, I utilize standardized screening tools at the onset and throughout the treatment process.
